MAXINE- Titania Angelina Records
What would happen, if you'd add together Maxine Petrucci of MADAM X, Billy Sheehan of MR. BIG, DAVID LEE ROTH, VAI, NIACIN and TALAS, Roxy Petrucci of VIXEN and MADAM X, Mike Pisculli (bass) and Paul Petrucci (bass). You'd get a new band called MAXINE, and they really surprised me a lot with their superduper debut album "Titania". It contains ten songs and has a total length of about thirty-five minutes. The short running time of this CD is the only disadvantage, but otherwise I can only say that this was one of the best hard rock CDs, I've heard in ages. There is a lot of variation in the different songs, I hear a lot of good guitar solos and you can hear that you're listening to some experienced musicians, who still know to impress people with their craftmanship. Fast rockers like opener, title track "Titania", are mixed with songs that are a bit easier on the ear like "LoveTest". But there's always something in the music, that makes you realise that you're listening to something special. There's never a dull moment on the CD, and they even saved the best part for last. And I'm referring to the guitar explosion, which is called "Max Attacks". Some of the magazines out there might say that this is old fashioned, and not of this time, but I think that our neighbours will remember this guitar masturbation from the beginning until the end, when they hear it. Every time that "Max Attacks" is there, we turn up the volume real loud and we wait until the windows start cracking. Remember "Eruption" of VAN HALEN? Well, this is indeed 'part II', and I love it. Well done MAXINE, and both thumbs up for this great debut album! It's refreshing to hear that some bands still dare to play some decent hard rock without pretension. The best arena rock comes from MAXINE. Hail to the Petrucci family, because they showed us that rock ain't dead yet. Even Jenny Petrucci contributed to the album, because she made the beautiful drawing on the front cover, that caught our eye immediately. MAXINE is a must have for every devoted hard rock fan out there. And I still believe, that it's better to hear thirty-five minutes of high quality music, than a full hour of garbage (not the band!). ====================================================

MAXINE ‘TITANIA’ (ANGELINA RECORDS)
A very heavy album from MAXINE PETRUCCI, who plays guitars and bass, but also sings on her
debut solo-CD, released as MAXINE. Maxine is best known as the sister of ROXY PETRUCCI, the
drummer of VIXEN, the legendary 80s all-female melodic rock band, and she also plays drums on
this CD. However, some of you might actually know MAXINE from MADAM X, the band which saw
both Roxy and Maxine together in 1 band, with 2 male members, of which for some time even had
SEBASTIAN BACH (ex-SKID ROW) on vocals. Now almost 20 years later it is time to talk about
the CD of Maxine, who shows she can still play the guitar very well, but also the vocal job is nicely
done. Her songwriting is not always impressive, but the 10 short songs on the MAXINE CD are
nice very heavy Melodic Metal songs that sounds like a mix between the 80s and a more
traditional metal sound. Despite the short playing length, I think this album will please fans of
female fronted Metal. Last note I must not forget to mention is that also bassist BILLY SHEEHAN
(MR. BIG) makes a guest appearance here. More info at: http://www.maxattacks.com

And God said, "Let There Be Rock" and the sisters, Maxine and Roxy Petrucci were born; and God
saw that it was good! The cd I have before me today, entitled "Titania", is Maxine Petrucci's first
solo release. For those of you who don't know, Maxine was the guitarist for the '80's Heavy Metal
band Madam X. The band not only featured Max but also her sister, Roxy Petrucci who played
drums and would later join the all girl Metal band Vixen. To make the story even sweeter, a young
unknown vocalist that went by the name of Sebastian Bach sang for the band. You all know where
he went....Skid Row! Now here we are in 2005 and Maxine has finally claimed her throne of guitar
goddess and boy, does she ever. As a matter of fact, Maxine plays the majority of the bass on the
album and she sings too! "Titania" also has a few special guests, such as Roxy Petrucci who plays
all drums, Billy Sheehan of Mr. Big/DLR fame who makes his presence felt on the title track through
his bass work.
Title song, "Titania", kicks off with guitar riffs that are so thick and crunchy they'll blow you away.
There are times I find myself wondering if Zakk Wylde is playing! It's just that heavy, kids. Max
hasn't lost her shred ability by any means; the lead break in "Titania" is fucking crazy, she shreds
with the best of them and you can take that to the bank. Max's vocals oddly remind me of a few
female bands; Rock Goddess, Femme Fatale and The Runaways. "Squeeked" again features
Maxine's shredding power, in the lead break she slashes through so many scales I lose count. Dare
I say there is no man that can compete with this type of talent. Roxy Petrucci also shows off her
drumming skills with double kicks that take the track up ten notches! "Love Test" slows the pace
down quite abit. It has an insatiable hook and groove that snatches me back into the old days so
fast my head is spinning uncontrollably. By now it's not a surprise, the lead break rips like a
hurricane! Just when I thought it was safe to come back out of the closet from all of this mad guitar
shredding, "Space Hog" kicks in like a rabid dog. The guitar riffs in this track are beyond heavy!
Maxine's vocals also peak into screams that fit well into the heavy dose of Metal I am being served.
"Hard For You" is definitely seductive, the sex-driven lyrics found within, spin a web of earful
pleasure like I've never known. Now this is how I like my Sleaze! The last track on "Titania" is an
instrumental shred-fest entitled "Max Attacks". HOLY HELLFIRE!!! A little over three minutes of
nothing but heavy riffing and insane leads, played at the speed of light. It sounds like something
Michael Angelo would play, the only difference is it's done on one neck, not two!
Throughout the years I've wondered many times where Maxine went. After receiving this cd, it's
more than evident Max hasn't gone anywhere. She's still here and she still rips like no tomorrow
and I mean RIPS!!! Roxy hasn't lost her drumming edge either, she still slams as well. If you love
Metal and mean, loud guitars, blazing leads and nut-busting riffs, you have to get this cd.
